In 1996, after the merging of Association of Endoscopy and Miniinvasive Surgery of Russia and the Endoscopic Surgery of Russian Federation, the "Section of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy" has been organized.

Conferences were carried out in South-Sakhalinsk (1993), Moscow (1994), Krasnodar (1995), Moscow (1997). In 1997 two Conferences are planned in Moscow and Anapa. Since 1995 the Journal of "Endoscopic Surgery" is published every quarter.

From Hungary

Status of Endoscopy in Hungary: there are yearly statments about it consisting of: No. Of Centers, practiging endoscopists, different diagnosis and therapeutic endoscopy, rate of complications etc., but the collecting of the last year's data are ongoing. When the statment is available we will send it.
