THE COMPANY

La Nouvelle Bague was born twenty years ago in Florence, where "humanity empties itself to be filled with inexpressible wonder." Lea and Leopoldo Poli, owners of the firm, made its headquarters on the banks of the Arno in the ancient Palazzo Bombicci Pontelli. Thus the working atmosphere is shaped by the classic architecture and the beautiful frescoes.

"Our relationship with Florence," says Leopoldo Poli, "is based on the great, unique Florentine tradition of the goldsmith's art as well as all that the city represents in art, architecture, and culture. The new man of the Renaissance was born here and we are inspired to produce for today's world." La Nouvelle Bague is a combination of the master goldsmith's workshop with today's methods of marketing on an international scale.

THE DESIGN

La Nouvelle Bague respects and appreciates the high tradition of the Florentine goldsmith, but draws inspiration for its designs in today's stimuli, in artistic forms of every variety, and takes symbols, signs, codes, and ciphers, develops forms, recomposes rhythms, and reexamines meanings, making them all part of its own intene and original creative vision.

THE WEARER

Market surveys have confirmed La Nouvelle Bague's creative intentions and intuitions, the clientele is a new one, making up a growing niche in the market. The woman who chooses La Nouvelle Bague is not only interested in the "Beautiful" and "Precious" but in everything that evokes, in herself and in others, all kinds of meanings, allusions, and metaphors that suggest more profound ways of being. Many of our customers become collectors and they choose to continue making our jewelry part of their lives.

THE TECHNIQUES OF WORKING

Over thirty staff members work with the Polis along with a hundred and twenty goldsmiths, setters, and enamelers, chosen from the best workers in the Florentine tradition. Everything is hand made by master jewelers who have a kind of "genetic inheritance" that permits them to transform the designs into reality. working with Lea and Leopoldo Poli, these goldsmiths are constantly researching and inventing new ways of creating with gold, enamel, and innovative use of precious stones.

THE OWNERS

Lea and Leopoldo Poli have been partners for thirty years of married life, and for the twenty years of their company's existence. They are co-owners and co-managers, with separate responsibilities. They live in an old house, set on a hill in Chianti, where they share their passion for horses, music, friends, and beauty in all its great variety of dimensions and manifestations.

"We are not jewelers," they like to say, "but producers of signs, evokers of archetypes, seekers for ciphers and codes that can illuminate our contemporary existence. We always have some last doubt about each of our creations, even when they are successful. The only case, the only project we have completed without doubts has been a very happy one: our daughter Gaia."
