Maybe,the military games more than any other sporting event world of regional championships are obtaining the goal that CISM fixed in 1948 first of all to promote sport,physical,and military education through competition and sports with a military component , and thern , to join for various days different cultures, habits and feelings during competitions. Maybe these military games are also the testing and launching bench of military sport. In fact CISM co-operates with C.I.O. national olimpic commitees, various internazional and national sport federations and concern Italy, with CONI that provides for service and sports facilities, and the Italian national sports league that furnished the technical staff. The Italian delegation to CISM, with the various standing committees and boards, will have the task to co-ordinate the different contributions. The activity of CISM, the high moral value, the ideals in favour of sport, have reached an important goal two years ago the Internazional olimpic commitee as officially recognized CISM, numbering it among the international sports organizations. This formal act, wich has undisputed value, and the support of the international olimpic authorities constitute not only a deserved recognition for wath carried out until now, but also assure the future of CISM and give esteem and respect to sports events and athletes results. For the First Military World Games CISM has also obtained the U.N. collaboration. During the games a special day will be dedicaded to U.N.wich have included this event in their programme to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary. Anyways CISM, through the military world games will mainly send a message of peace to the whole world. It will also be a message of solidarity overcoming differences and contrasts, allowing - through several initiatives, that ranges from free travels and accommodation to traini ng costs - to athletes in difficult conditions to participate, and increasing the number of competitors, countries will strengthen the links among them and the athletes themselves. Thus confirming CISM motto, decided in 1948 friendship through sport. Furthermore, on september 6, the olimpic stadium in Rome will host the biggest military event which has never been organized the representatives of almost 100 Armed Forces, joined thanks to sport will give a show of maintenance of peace in the world. Other countries will the invited to adhere in order to undertake new common interest directions. Italian Armed Force can be proud not only because they are the first world-wide to organize the military world games and because they have been preferred by CISM and thus by its general assembly, but also because of the sporting events importance,for the high symbolic and spiritual meaning, as the game will take place in the fiftieth anniversary after the end of the world war and the U.N. charter. The military world games will take place from 6 to the 15 september, mainly in Rome and in the provinces of ABRUZZO and LAZIO,divided into 17 military and non-military disciplines

- military typed sports parachuting,military pentathlon, shooting,naval pentatlon and sailing.

- individual sports track e field, modern pentathlon, cycling, triathlon, swimming, horsemanship, judo, boxing, fencing, wrestling.

- team sport football, waterpolo, volleyball, basketball.

The games organizing committee arranged three hospitality centres in Rome for athletes, officials, journalist, with reserved sections and open areas for spectators. A SERVICE village has been organized in the foro italico from 4 to 15 september only for the days of competitions in the olimpic stadium and the stadio del nuoto,with a day-time functioning.It will not be open to spectators and it has mainly to support the organizing committee,the sporting activities and the press centre. Services such as bars and snack-bars are located in wide common spaces there are rooms for conferences and exhibitions,there is a restaurant for athletes,technicians and guests.Around the village there is the press centre and a reserved area for journalists relax an INSTITUTIONAL village in piazza di siena called SIENARTE in the period 3-15 september open from 18.00 to about 02.00. It is the main evering aggregation area after the competition for participating country delegation,volunteer teams and roman people, so to underline the immage of the game in its different aspect sporting,symbolical,cultural and tourist, in a national and international dimension.The village is in piazza siena,one of the most delighful places of Rome,in the famous park of villa borghese.In the village there is the VIP reserved area with the representative of the main official sponsors of the event. Furthermore,two piano-bars willcheer up the ni ghtsat the end of the show in fact every day in the big stage modernlyequipped there are variety and musical shows of great importance.Around the show area there are several restaurants,with different menu,such as the traditional pizza as well as many bars.A village for young people a satellite for the previsius one, called EURARTE near the palazzo dello sport of eur,in the period 25 august - 13 september, open from 19.00 to 02.00,with the main purpose to promote friendship between athletes lodges in the southern part of Rome,and the servicement of the national service. A free entrance disco will animate the evenings from 23.30 on. Here there are the same services of piazza di siena even if to a smaller extent, as area for entertainment, music and every kind of shows mainly for young spectators.In the institutional stand such as in piazza di siena there are ten components DEFENCE, ARMY,N AVY, AIR FORCE, CARABINIERI, GUARDIA DI FINANZA, POLICEMEN, FIREMEN, PENITENTIARY POLICE, in order to give a precise connotation to the event and to promote the right image of the initiatives which every component wants to favourite.The two village programmes of the shows are in the following page.
