ORPI, Ordine Ristoratori Professionisti Italiani (Association of Italian Professional Restaurant Proprietors) is a non-profit association founded in Milan in 1984 by a group of qualified professionals in this branch with the aim to re-launch and valorize the high professional profile of Italian Restaurant ~rietors in Italy and abroad, expressed by a vast range of regional cuisines, food and wines of our country. At present, the association counts almost 300 members, owners- chefs of outstanding Italian restaurants or of Italian tradition, one hundred of which are ranking high at international level: in Europe, USA, Canada, Latin America and Asia. Every year, ORPI promotes and organizes special events and meetings on national and international level, conferences and exchange of experiences with operators in the branch and with the public at large; it publishes a Guide and other literature to foster Italian fare. Its association objectives also feature factual cooperation with associations having the same aims such as "l'osservatorio operativo" set up in 1994 to put the heart back into restaurant business in this moment of cyclical malaise. The Association is self-financed by the membership fees of its Members as well as by first class firms operating in the foodstuff and wine industry, thus contribvting by their sponsorship to the realization of the initiatives launched by our Association.
